Week 54:ok hello everyone!

So a funny story I forgot to tell you guys! There’s a food here called a coxinha (co-sheen-ya) and its a fried thing with chicken and cheese or stuff inside (you can google it) 5 years ago here in Garanhuns, there was a crazy couple who were killing people and making coxinha with human meat!!! What the heck???!! So many people ate them and thought “hmm, its tasty but has a flavor a little different?” so the police found out one day, it went viral and everyone who had eaten the coxinhas were freaking out haahah and the couple is now in prison. Soooo crazy. We walked by their hosue the other day and it already has other people living in it. Ahhh!!! I guess it’s not really funny, but wow!!

We were in Recife untli Wednesday night for meetings and stuff. I am so tired! I will sleep so much today. I dont like 4 hr bus rides!!! Another super funny thing this week was that my comp doesnt have very much hair and so these braids she has are fake hair, and she wanted to buy new hair. we went to a store in Recife and bought it. When we went outside into the sun, we saw that the hair was PURPLE!!! hahaha i was drinking water and she was like “Gente!!! Que é esse cabelo?! é roxo!!!” like what is this hair?! Its purple!! And i looked and spit my water in her face from laughing so hard haha. We went back to the store and switched it. All is well with my little african. I really like her. She finishes the mission in 3 weeks!! So ill get a new comp obviously. Im super stressed trying to know the area and how to figure out everything. But itll come!

HAPPY BDAY to my cute grandpa Brian, I know im late but I hope you had a great day! And happy almost bday to uncle blake also!! é pique, é pique, é pique pique pique!! hahaah. Do you miss your days here in brasil?!

Did my first division on thursday. I went with sister Gary to her area. It was good! Sister Gary is from Seattle and shes a convert of less than 2 years. She’s super awesome!

I think thats basically all I have to report.

I miss you guys! Less than 5 months…im not trunky or anything…. haha but really I’m trying not to think about it. Real life is gonna be so weird.

Love, Sheridan

Week 52/3? Garanhuns is cold!

Okay so this area is COLD in the morning and at night. do you know how nice it is after I havent felt cold in a year?!!! Its so nice. I sleep with socks and sweatpants and a down comforter!!! Can u believe it? I’ve been sleeping so well. During the day is hot, but not the hot like in Recife. it doesnt even compare!

The ward here is super special! I already love the people. Its been super great. There’s a family here with a son serving in Brandon’s mission! Super funny! His dad is our ward mission leader, his brother is our bishop, and his mom is pres of the relief society. Such a cool family!
The youth here are so cool and strong!! There are so many recent converts of youth. On Saturday Mayke was baptized, a young man the sisters had been taeaching. We taught him all the lessons this week and he is so cute and pure. We taught him all the commandments and he was like “Ive been living these my whole life!” And he wants to serve a mission!!!! He was like “I was taking with my mom about how ill have to take a break from college when i go on my mission…!” So cute. I sent pics!!

We found another young man, Mateus, this weekend and he’s elect. Hes already read the BOM, already been to church, etc. hes so precious also. Hes 18 and accepted to be baptized on the 18th. So lets pray that will happen!!!

Sister Notice and I won’t be in our area much this week. Today we are already going back to Recife!! 5 hours on the bus…..bc tomorrow I have training for new leaders and Wednesday is the counsel of the mission. So we’ll get back late Wednesday night. Im kinda nervous and I get stressed about traveling because something always goes wrong it seems like, but its okay.

The interior is so interesting. The people dont really want commitment and so its hard to get them to church. But there are elects here too! our area is HUGE. super super big

This place reminds me of Goiana sometimes, the fact that nobody wants anything hahaah. They’ll listen to your message, but then they say every church is true, God is good, “the church doesnt save nobody” hahah they don’t have the best grammar. Love them:)

Friday night i was chased by a drunk shirtless man holding his fingers as a gun yelling at me to stop! My lil African comp went running in one direction and left me hahahahaha. i stopped for a second bc i thought it was a gun, but when i saw it was his finger, i crossed the street and ran so fast and met back up with Sister Notice. It was so scary but now a few days later, its funny.

Anyways, all is well here! I think ill prob stay here a while.

CONGRATS CHRISTIE AND DANIEL!! your baby is so beautiful!!! So precious.

Anyway, I love you guys a lot!! Have a great week! xoxoimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage

imageimageimageimageimageimageHi guys! this email will be short n sweet.
Im super stressed and flustered right now in this Lanhouse with a million teenage boys gaming and its soooooo hot. But I arrived 2 hrs ago here in my new area, lots of traveling, 5 hrs on a bus!! but all is well. Our house is supppper nice! Its an apt on the 3rd floor, has granite counters in the kitchen, 2 nice bathrooms, etc. We live with an american sister from seattle, Sister Gary and Sister Moreira who was my comp. So fun to see her! Im super excited. Ive heard such good things about the members here and I think the area is gonna be good too. Maybe not as many baptisms as the city but thats okay!

I cant really think of anything that happened this week except that I ran into Hiderval in recife which was so fun!!! and on sunday i got to see all the members from olinda bc it was stake conference. they all cried so much and i cried too!! I love them so much!!!!! I didnt realized they liked me so much ahahah they were all like running towards me crying. it was so emotional lol

But anyway, all is well. Im a little stressed and my hands are like shaking. But next week Ill write more. Love you guys!
